It’s been a rather crazy week at Evergreen State College a 4-year accredited liberal arts school in Olympia, Washington.
A self-described ‘progressive’ professor named Bret Weinstein had objected to student demands for a “Day of Absence & Day of Presence” demonstration, which called for white students, faculty and staff to leave campus for a day, Professor Weinstein did not.
Upon Professor Weinstein’s decision not to take part in the event, students went berserk asking for his resignation. “They imagine that I am a racist and that I am teaching racism in the classroom, and that has caused them to imagine that I have no right to speak, and that I am harming students by the very act of teaching them,” said Professor Weinstein.
Weinstein ended up having to hold class off-campus because police were told to stand down. Watch Evergreen State College’s President George Sumner Bridges capitulate to the demands of the student protesters in the video below.
Bret Weinstein appeared on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight Friday evening, Tucker describing what had happened as something seen in ‘Phnom Penh in 1975.’
The student protesters had demanded disarming the campus police, “mandatory sensitivity and cultural competency training” for all employees and the construction of an “equity center” on campus. The College President also agreed to implement a full time coordinator for the trans & queer center. Watch Tucker Carlson interview Professor Weinstein below.
